Last week I had the honour of attending an induction session for the Newcastle Writers' Festival, where I'd met all the lovely people who work tirelessly all year round to bring the festival together, as well as the new faces like myself. This year I'll be helping out by volunteering at the festival, along with hundreds of others, which is a new and exciting thing for me to do.
Until last year, I'd never been to a writers' festival before. In fact, Newcastle Writers' Festival is the first one I ever had the privilege of attending. I'd enjoyed the panels I attend last year, so I figured why not help out the people who put so much effort into creating such a fun and engaging environment? Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity.
I'm actually super excited for this new experience where I get to help out 'behind the scenes' of the festival and connect with all the amazing people who love reading and writing as much as I do. Who knows, maybe it'll be something I can write about one day?
